Dakar Terminal is the fifth terminal to obtain the "Green Terminal" label from Bureau Veritas.

Bolloré Ports, a subsidiary of the Bolloré Group, created the "Green Terminal" label to reduce the environmental impact of its terminals and accelerate its energy transition.

Bureau Veritas in Senegal awarded this label to the container terminal of the Autonomous Port of Dakar after an audit based on several criteria. These criteria included work processes, the construction of infrastructure that international standards, the acquisition of more environmentally friendly handling equipment, waste management, and employee training in environmental best practices.

Dakar Terminal has set itself apart by reducing the fuel consumption of its handling equipment. "Dakar Terminal surrounded itself with qualified service providers to collect, valorize, and recycle waste generated by the terminal. As a result of various initiatives, the proportion of hazardous and non-hazardous waste recovered has increased from 4% in 2019 to 64% in 2020." Bolloré Ports says.
